In the modern world we may find references to cosmetic surgery all around us. It may feature on the news if new trends, techniques or technologies have been released; it may feature in an advert in a magazine, newspaper or website; or it might be something a friend or relative has decided to undergo. It shows that in the modern world plastic surgery is a popular and well documented area, encompassing a range of techniques and procedures that seek to change someone’s appearance so that they feel better about themselves and more confident.

Plastic surgery is a field that attempts to improve the life of the patient, so says BAAPS (the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons), who recommended such an attitude to all of its member cosmetic surgeons. But those that undergo a cosmetic surgery procedure should make a decision with much care, researching all of the relevant areas, looking into the expected results and maybe even seeking the advice of their GP. It will ensure that they have the right frame of mind and expectations, so that they can be as happy as possible with the results.

Examples of cosmetic surgery procedures include blepharoplasty, breast implants (breast enlargement and breast augmentation), breast uplift, breast reduction, male breast reduction, rhinoplasty, liposuction and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
